FAQ's

Welcome to our FAQ page — your go-to resource for all things reclaimed wood and sustainable furniture. Whether you're curious about how our materials are sourced, how to care for your piece, or what makes our handcrafted designs unique, you'll find the answers here. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to eco-conscious craftsmanship, using only locally reclaimed wood to create timeless furniture with character, purpose, and a lighter footprint on the planet.

1. What is reclaimed wood, and how is it different from new wood?

Reclaimed wood is timber that has been salvaged from old buildings, scaffolding, or other structures. It’s often more characterful and eco-friendly than new wood, with unique markings and a rich history.

2. Will reclaimed wood furniture have imperfections?

Yes — and that’s part of its charm! You may see knots, nail holes, grain variation, or small cracks, all of which add to the rustic, one-of-a-kind look of the piece.

3. Is reclaimed wood furniture durable?

Absolutely. Reclaimed wood, especially scaffolding boards, is incredibly strong and has already proven its resilience over time. With proper care, it can last for decades.

4. How should I care for my wooden furniture?

Dust regularly with a soft cloth, and avoid harsh cleaners. Use coasters or mats to protect surfaces, and occasionally treat with a wood-safe oil or wax to maintain its finish and hydration.

5. Can I choose the finish or colour of the wood?

Yes! We offer a range of custom finish options to suit your space, while still allowing the natural character of the wood to shine through.

6. Will my furniture look exactly like the photos?

No two pieces are identical. While we follow the same design and dimensions, each board is unique — which means your furniture will have its own distinctive grain, tone, and markings.

7. Is your furniture really handmade?

Yes. Every item is carefully crafted by hand in our workshop on Dartmoor National Park, using traditional woodworking techniques and reclaimed materials.

8. Why choose reclaimed wood over manufactured wood?

Reclaimed wood is more sustainable, has a lower environmental impact, and offers far more character than mass-produced or engineered alternatives.

9. Does reclaimed wood need special maintenance?

Not really — just general good furniture care. Avoid excess moisture, direct heat, and treat it gently. Its rugged nature is part of what makes it low-maintenance.

10. Can reclaimed wood furniture be used in modern interiors?

Definitely. Its natural texture and warmth pair beautifully with modern, industrial, minimalist, or rustic interiors — adding depth and authenticity to any space.
